“E.J.” is a mom serving time in a Texas prison. A new Christian, she was baptized in August and is in awe of God’s deep love for her.
Just a few weeks ago she participated in a “Day with Mom” event that allowed her some precious time with her children. It also helped her discover that she is a wholly loved, wholly forgiven daughter of God. It made such an impact that she wrote to thank Prison Fellowship—and our supporters—for helping to make it possible.
E.J. writes, “… Today, something broke inside me because of this day known as Day with Mom through Prison Fellowship. I am completely shattered by the realization that we are so loved, even (especially) behind these walls. And no matter what I [have] done out there in my past that caused this incarceration, I am accepted, forgiven, blessed, and loved. More than I could have ever known. … I admit, it is a daily struggle, especially inside this prison, when our fellow [prisoners] see only our flaws and [do] everything to upset us and draw us away from God’s light. But see, today, I realized that there is absolutely nothing greater than love, God’s love, the love our moms feel for us as we are in here, and the love we feel for our children, when we must let them go after a 2- or 4-hour visit.”
“Today was one day I will always cherish and remember because of Jesus’ love in others,” she adds.
It makes an incredible difference in a prisoner’s life to see the light of Christ shining through people, enabling them to realize that they can, in E.J.’s words, be “wholly loved, wholly forgiven.” You can help shine that light as a volunteer, intercessor, or financial supporter.
