2012 Internship Opportunities


MARKETING & PROGRAM ASSISTANT: BREAKPOINT AND THE COLSON CENTER (40 HRS/WK)

BreakPoint is a program that equips Christians to apply the truths of Scripture to all of life.  The Colson Center, a program of BreakPoint, seeks to serve all who are seeking to integrate faith and truth for transformed living by offering an online learning community, a wide range of documents and other materials for training others, networking with likeminded Christians, and staying abreast of the latest in Christian worldview thinking. You will focus on general marketing functions of Breakpoint and the Colson Center, which includes strategizing and implementing marketing emails.  Special emphasis on assisting in the development, promotion, and distribution of Christian Worldview programs, products, curricula, newsletters, and websites.  You will also be pivotal in further developing and managing social media for both ministries, to include researching the latest in social media strategy and philosophy.  You may be called upon to guest blog on The Point, BreakPoint’s blog, from time to time.  The qualified individual will possess strong PC proficiency and experience with MS Office, knowledge of internet research, strong familiarity with social networking tools, and strong research/writing skills.

HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT

Be an integral part of our dynamic Human Resources team!  This important internship would allow the student to work with our Talent Development Manager and various employees throughout the organization to update their respective position descriptions, with a primary focus on converting existing MS Word documents to our most current format and drafting new position descriptions as needed.  Tracking progress and communicating with involved employees offers the student the ability to learn details about many positions within the organization.  Also focus on utilizing research skills from internet and specialized HR resources for specific wording as needed. Assist with other HR assignments as time allows.  The qualified individual will posess key abilities including concise, accurate writing; listen well and draft position descriptions based on conversations; comfortable talking with a variety of people; the ability to multi-task/prioritize, and the ability to work independently.  The qualified individual will also have an intermediate level of MS Word skills and a basic understanding of Outlook. Basic knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Writer preferred, but not required.

PLANNED GIVING RESEARCH ASSISTANT

As an integral member of the Planned Giving Team, the qualified individual will research existing and potential major donors and assist in the development of strategic donor profiles which will be used by the fundraising team across the country.  Requires strong writing/editing skills, strong Internet research skills, PC proficiency, strong oral/written communication skills, the ability to multi-task/prioritize, and experience in summarizing and applying research results.

STRATEGIC GIFTS ASSOCIATE

The Strategic Gifts Team raises support for the work of Prison Fellowship by building and strengthening relationships with major donors, foundations, and grantors.  Working alongside the Strategic Gifts Team onsite and in support of the Directors and Area Managers in the field, the qualified individual will have the opportunity to use their project management skills to coordinate key details of various events and projects as well as use their excellent writing ability to support the staff through correspondences to Major Donors.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

Prison Fellowship seeks to strengthen the relationship between prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families, and the local church through year-round ministry programs.  Assist the ministry team with a variety of projects including research, materials development, data entry, mailings and filing in support of volunteer and church recruitment for important programs that have a direct impact on prisoners, ex-prisoners, their families, and the local church.  Research and develop information to create FAQ’s as well as resources that include ministry-related history and statistics.  Research and report on ministry constituent (prisoners, churches) trends.  Requires PC proficiency, strong written and oral communication skills, strong attention to detail, strong Internet research skills, the ability to multi-task/prioritize, and experience in summarizing and applying research results. Preferred Major:

BREAKPOINT DATABASE ASSISTANT (PART-TIME)

BreakPoint is a program that equips Christians to apply the truths of Scripture to all of life's questions and controversies. As an integral member of the BreakPoint Team, the qualified individual will maintain accuracy of the main donor database. This all-important task ensures accurate information as related to the direct mail process. Also assist as back-up on mass emails, formatting, & sending as needed. Requires strong attention to detail, PC proficiency, strong oral/written communication skills, the ability to multi-task/prioritize, and preferred experience in communicating with a large group of recipients.

COLLABORATING MINISTRIES


Prison Fellowship partners with dozens of Christian ministries and volunteers to help facilitate evangelistic events in prisons throughout the country. Musicians, performers, and speakers take the stage to share the hope of Christ. Volunteers mingle with prisoners, praying with them and offering encouragement.
