Operation Starting Line is a collaboration of organizations that relies on volunteers. Christian Volunteers are an important part of Operation Starting Line. We love our volunteers because they are the backbone of the collaboration. In previous OSL projects God has raised up thousands of volunteers who have provided ministry to prisoners, ex-prisoners, victims and their families. Today there are Christian volunteers just like you who volunteer to lead Bible studies and in-prison seminars, assist crime victims, impact criminal justice legislation, mentoring and ex-prisoners, purchase and deliver gifts to children of prisoners at Christmas. In addition, volunteers provide key administrative support for OSL collaborators offices around the U.S.
Your volunteering will allow you to also work with and be trained by a collaboration of ministries.
We believe that crime is a moral problem - Christians call it "sin" - and the only way to really change society is by helping individuals make lasting changes in their own lives by committing their lives and values to Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible. Therefore, it is vital that volunteers and employees live by these same beliefs, and Operation Starting Line has a Statement of Faith to which volunteers and collaborators must indicate their agreement.
Volunteer training is an important part of Operation Starting Line. Our goal is to equip volunteers with information and resources about OSL so they can better serve prisoners. We would like for all OSL volunteer’s to receive an orientation prior to an OSL event. As a well trained volunteer you will be effective in ministry, and be prepared to begin follow-up activities. Volunteer training is conducted by all OSL Collaborator who utilize volunteers and before volunteers can participate in in-prison projects.
You can contact individual OSL collaborators to find out their opportunities to volunteer. Contact information for each of the organizations can be found on the websites of the collaborating ministries.
