A Layman's Guide to Employer Resources for Reentry
A Layman's Guide to Employer Resources for Reentry
Employer Resources
There is a strong correlation between employment and the success of ex-offenders in the community. The reentry into the labor market is one of the most challenging situations an ex-offender faces, since there are few employers who are willing to hire a previous offender. However, there are multiple benefits to employers who are willing to provide opportunities for an ex-offender to prove himself/herself.
- Bonds: The Federal Bonding Program provides insurance for employers who hire convicted felons. Information is available here.
- Tax Incentives: The Department of Labor offers the “Work Opportunity Tax Credit” of up to $2400 for each ex-offender employed. Please visit here for more information.
