Happy Campers

Girls_will_be_girls_Together_at_lunch_at_campShouts of children’s laughter rang out as kids of incarcerated parents had the time of their lives at Angel Tree Summer Camp. Director Matt Raines oversaw all the festivities at Frontier Camp in Grapeland. This campground has been ministering to children for over 40 years, and this summer was no different, as 138 campers from all over Texas came to have fun and just enjoy themselves. The week-long vacation was jam-packed with fun activities such as boating, tubing, swimming and horseback riding.

Keith Green’s 9-year-old daughter Marisah said it was the best summer camp ever. “Going to this camp really changed my life and I will cherish it for the rest of eternity,” she said. Marisah felt comfortable with the other kids because most of them had an incarcerated parent too. She loved the staff and bonded with one female counselor who prayed with her about her father’s upcoming parole hearing.

“Marisah can’t wait to go again next year,” Green said. “It was a blessing!”
