Prison Fellowship Leaders Meet with Virginia Corrections Officials


Barbed_wire_ThumbVirginia lawmakers are listening to Prison Fellowship for advice on cutting the state’s correction budget and driving down the incarceration rate.

 

On Wednesday, September 15, Prison Fellowship President Mark Earley and Vice President Pat Nolan met with the Virginia State Crime Commission to offer their suggestions on how to drive down the number of prisoners—67,000 currently—and the $1.25 billion corrections budget.

 

"We've done a great job of getting criminals off the street," Earley told the Commission. "What we haven't done a good job of, all across the U.S., is getting criminals ready to come back out on to the street."
