On February 16, the Department of Labor presented a conference call on grant opportunities, hosted by Assistant Secretary of Employment and Training Administration Jane Oates. Nearly 1,000 individuals signed up to participate. The Department of Labor has made available the information and Web links discussed on that call.

The following grants are currently open:
- Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Act—Closing date is April 21, 2011; community colleges are eligible lead applicants; total available funds is $500 million. (application)
- Civic Justice Corps (CJC)—Closing date is March 15, 2011; nonprofit organizations, state/local government, Native American tribes are eligible lead applicants; total available funds is $20 million. (application)
- Reintegration of Ex-Offenders (RExO)—Closing date is March 17, 2011; nonprofit organizations (faith-based and community) are eligible lead applicants; total available funds is $11.7 million. (application)
The following grants will be released in March and April. Complete details on these grants are not finalized, so please note that some of the below information is subject to change:
- Green Jobs Innovation Fund—scheduled for release in March; national or statewide nonprofits are eligible lead applicants; total available funds is $40 million.
- Career Pathways Innovation Fund—scheduled for release in March; community colleges or workforce investment boards are eligible lead applicants; total available funds is $125 million.
- Youth Offender Intermediary—scheduled for release in March; national or regional intermediaries are eligible lead applicants; total available funds is $17 million.
- Enhanced Transitional Jobs Demonstration—scheduled for release in March or April; nonprofits (faith and community) and state/local governments are eligible lead applicants; focused populations are non-custodial parents and ex-prisoners; this program will have an intense evaluation; total available funds is $45 million.
- Young Parents Demonstration—scheduled for release in March; nonprofits, colleges, One Stops, WIBs are eligible lead applicants; total available funds is $5.5 million.
- H-1B Technical Skills Training—scheduled for release in March or April; One Stops, WIBs, employer groups, training providers are eligible lead applicants; total available funds is $240 million.
- National Farmworkers Jobs Program—scheduled for release in March; nonprofits, WIBs, colleges, state/local governments are eligible lead applicants; total available funds is $87 million.
