Indie band The Offset posted this message on our Angel Tree Facebook wall yesterday:
Playing a benefit concert for the Angel Tree program at Groveton Baptist Church [Alexandria, VA] Saturday December 3rd! Come out and bring a toy for admission to see some awesome bands and contribute to something great!
It’s heartening to see performers using their gifts and talents to help a great cause like Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree. We posted a blog a few weeks ago about a benefit concert in Thousand Palms, California, by John and Gina Carey and the Urban Soul Project. But you don’t have to be a great talent to help out.
Last year we featured a story about John Varwig, a young man who rode his bike across America to raise money for Angel Tree. And while there is no doubting his cycling skills, it was a heart to serve others that was the catalyst for this great feat.
Angel Tree has more organized programs to help bring the gospel to children of incarcerated parents – you can register your church, get your group involved, and donate. But never underestimate the power of Spirit to move artists and individuals alike to give of themselves to help those in need.
What is the Spirit asking you to do for the least of these?
