Families and social networks play a critical role when their loved ones are involved in the juvenile or criminal justice system. In addition to helping a loved one address an addiction issue and encouraging him/her to find and keep jobs, family members also provide important motivation. By involving people supportive of the individual throughout the supervision process, community supervision officers can increase their effectiveness, promote public safety, and help strengthen families.
