Focus on the Family interviewed Chuck Colson recently about Breakpoint’s “exploration of ethics” resource Doing the Right Thing. It was broadcast on Focus affiliate stations nationwide and is available online here. Tune in to hear Focus President Jim Daly ask Mr. Colson about his own understanding of ethics just prior to taking a job with “the most powerful man in the world.”

Here’s an excerpt from the discussion:

Jim Daly: Chuck, when you talk about ethics, you have to allow me to wind the clock back and talk about your journey. Because you were a part of perhaps one of the great political scandals in the United States. And I’d like to delve into that a bit. Here you are, serving the most powerful man in the world, at his right hand side. Take us back to that. Were you a man that understood ethics at that point? If so, what happened?

Chuck Colson: Well, I went into the White House as a great idealist. I was 37 years-old when President Nixon asked me to come in and be his assistant. I had a very successful law practice … I was conquering the world and doing everything I’d hoped to do … move into an office next to the President of the United States and having all that power, I wanted to do the right thing.
