In one of what is likely to be many online tributes to Chuck Colson, Keith Fournier at Catholic Online has written a personal reflection on the life of Prison Fellowship’s founder.
Chuck Colson is one of those great men; a man of true courage. He has spoken truth to lies without any fear. He has faced down the enemies of authentic freedom for many years and refused to be intimidated. He has pointed out that the path to authentic freedom leads to the foot of Golgotha’s Hill and through the empty tomb – to all who would listen. I want Chuck to have at least a few more years. He is the kind of Christian leader we desperately need in this critical hour.
Fournier remembers Chuck’s willingness to write an introduction to a book he was writing encouraging greater cooperation between evangelicals and Roman Catholics in standing for Christ and His Church in an increasingly secular world.
“I still remember thinking back then, ‘Maybe someday I can become a “Catholic” Chuck Colson,”’ says Fournier. “… He is one of our greatest contemporary Christian apologists, engaging the culture with the truths informed by faith.”
