A New Resource for Incarcerated Fathers

September 27, 2012 by Steve Rempe

InsideOutThe National Fatherhood Initiative is announcing today the release of an updated version of InsideOut Dads, its outstanding program focused on reconnecting incarcerated fathers with their families.

The InsideOut Dads program is composed of 12 core sessions, with an additional four optional sessions.  Lessons include “Being a Man,” “Co-Parenting and Communication,” “Men’s Health,” and “Children’s Growth and Discipline.”

Recent studies show that fathers who participate in parenting programs in prison are less likely to return after release.  Hundreds of prison facilities, pre-release programs, and other organizations are using the curriculum to reconnect fathers to their children and to improve their behaviors and attitudes.  And the $40.00 cost to participate is much less than the estimated $25,000 and $40,000 it costs to incarcerate an inmate for a year.
