Churches Step Up for Angel Tree

October 26, 2012 by Steve Rempe

In July, the Board of General Superintendent of the Church of the Nazarene announced a partnership with Prison Fellowship in an effort to increase the number of congregations participating in the Angel Tree Christmas program.  A recent press release from the denomination reveals just how successful the campaign has been.

According to the release, 183 Nazarene churches have signed up to provide gifts to children of inmates this Christmas – a 40 percent increase over the total participation in 2011.  There has also been a 25 percent increase in states represented by these churches since last year.

“This is such a vital ministry to a vastly under-served part of the population,” says General Superintendent Jesse C. Middendorf. “Susan and I are involved in this ministry personally. We have become very aware of its impact. Any church, of any size, can become involved.”

Would you or your church like to be a part of changing the lives of children with a parent behind bars?  There is still time to register.  To sign up your church visit https://www.angeltree.org/registration.
