If movie stars and rappers can put together a loud call for just laws and smart sentencing practices, why can’t Christians get more mobilized? In a Letter to Obama, The Weekly Standard an open letter to President Obama, Will Smith, LL Cool J, the Kardashians, and a host of other celebrities ask him to “pursue alternatives to the enforcement-only ‘War on Drugs’ approach and address the increased incarceration rates for non-violent crimes.”
Over 900 demonstrators from faith-based and community groups convened in Madison, WI to ask their legislators to consider alternatives to prison sentences for nonviolent offenders. A good start, yes, but this needs to happen across the U.S.
Now is the time for Christians and other faith-based groups to step up to the plate and let their voices be heard in support of criminal justice reforms. Join Justice Fellowship’s network. Equip yourself to petition your federal and state representatives effectively.
