On April 19, 2014, Prison Fellowship® sponsored an Easter evangelistic event on the yard of Valley State Prison in Chowchilla, California. Prior to the event, a prisoner approached Joe Avila, the regional executive director for Prison Fellowship in the western Pacific United States, and told him that one of his fellow prisoners had written an Easter song. George Carter graciously agreed to perform his song, "He's Alive" for the over 1,500 men in attendance.
A few weeks after the event, Joe was able to show this video of George singing to his mother and two daughters, who had never heard him play the guitar and sing.
George will be singing at the Easter event at Valley State Prison again this year. May God use his gifts and talents to once again proclaim the Good News of Christ's death and resurrection.
