Being the Hands and Feet of Jesus in Prison

September 9, 2015 by Prison Fellowship

T. J. has been volunteering inside the Carol S. Vance Unit in Richmond, Texas, for about five years. The time spent behind the walls there has been life-changing.

“I can’t tell you what a wonderful experience this has been for me,” T. J. says.  “This is the only place that I really come and I watch the Holy Spirit move throughout the community.  I’ve seen lives change, as well as mine.” “I’ve learned more from the guys,” she says, “than they have learned from me.”

For T. J., serving the men of the Vance Unit is a chance to show them God’s love through her actions, and being faithful to God’s call on her life. “It’s all about serving Jesus,” she says.  “It’s just the best reward you could possibly want.”

“If you would like to be the hands and feet of Christ,” T. J. concludes, “come and join us.”
