Prison Fellowship Campaign with B&H Publishing Yields Thousands of "Not Forsaken" Books Donated to Prisoners

Recently, Prison Fellowship® partnered with B&H Publishing to bring Louie Giglio's latest bestseller to an often-ignored demographic: prisoners.

Louie is a pastor, author, and the founder of the Passion movement. His book, Not Forsaken: Finding Freedom as Sons & Daughters of a Perfect Heavenly Father, explores the universal human need for relationship. Especially the need to have a loving relationship with a father. Through a September-only marketing campaign, B&H Publishing offered readers a buy-one get-one opportunity—buy one copy of Not Forsaken and donate a second copy to a prisoner.

Many Americans—particularly our most vulnerable populations—do not have a good relationship with their fathers. For example, 1 in 4 American children grow up in fatherless homes. Consequently, men raised in a fatherless home are two times more likely to go to prison. Moreover, 70% of juveniles in youth detention do not have a father at home.

Thus, after 30 years of working with young people, Louie has seen how an absent father can affect a person:

I've seen the painful ramifications of the fatherless epidemic. And it's been a huge privilege to bring the Not Forsaken message to these prisoners, many of whom are in desperate need of a father's blessing. I want to help them find an identity-shifting connection to God as their perfect father. I'm grateful to our partnership with Prison Fellowship and the opportunity to be a small part of the important work they do to bring the hope of Jesus to prisoners throughout the United States."

More than 10,000 copies are available for prisoners and prison chaplains, thanks to the generosity of Louie's readers.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS TO REMEMBER THE PRISONER

Prison Fellowship trains and inspires churches and communities—inside and outside of prison—to support the restoration of those affected by incarceration. Throughout each year, we equip correctional leaders, volunteers, and incarcerated men and women to make prisons more rehabilitative places. We also advocate for a more restorative criminal justice system and collaborate with local churches to support former prisoners and their families.
