This March, Remember Women in Prison and Their Unique Needs

For volunteers, prison ministry is a calling, a passion. For those behind bars, it can mean the difference between despair and hope. Prison Fellowship^® trains and equips devoted volunteers across the country who provide support to the incarcerated members of our society. Including incarcerated women.

March 8 is International Women's Day, a celebration of the abilities and achievements of women in society, culture, economics, and politics. The movement aims to confront stereotypes and biases, broaden perceptions, and recognize women’s successes, to improve opportunities for everyone to thrive.

This Women's Day, we remember women in prison. Check out the ways we are active behind bars right now, meeting women where they are and igniting hope!

HOW PRISON FELLOWSHIP SUPPORTS WOMEN BEHIND BARS

Create: New Beginnings™ takes incarcerated women through a series of restorative, art-based workshops that explore topics such as shame, self-doubt, empathy, and forgiveness—all in a faith-based environment of introspection, healing, and community support.
Through evangelistic Hope Events and Inside Journal^® for Women, a Prison Fellowship newspaper with content tailored to women readers, women behind bars learn about the hope, love, forgiveness, and transformation God offers.
Prison Fellowship's parenting classes, family reconciliation events, and Angel Tree^® Christmas program empower moms behind bars to strengthen bonds with their children and families—reestablishing trust and preparing for a better future.
