A frequent request from prison? The Word of God.

Welcome to Mail Call! Once a month, we will share letters received from incarcerated men and women. Hear—in their own words—what life is like behind bars, the challenges they face, and their hopes for the future.
This month's letter is from Barrett, an incarcerated man from Georgia.

MAY I HAVE A BIBLE?
My name is Barrett and I'm currently incarcerated in Georgia. I'm serving a 12-year sentence for vehicular homicide. I got behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated and caused an accident that resulted in the loss of another's life.
While I was in county jail, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and instantly felt a burden lifted from my heart. God has helped me mend relationships, forgive myself, and forgive others. He has helped me with my recovery and helped me fight the temptation that's involved with prison. He has helped me see that I want to change for Him, not for myself.
I’m writing you today because my bunkmate received [an Inside Journal® Life Recovery Bible] from you by filling out a card … and I'm writing to ask if I can receive the same Bible and some study material to strengthen my knowledge and help me to continue to build my faith.
Thank you for your help, and God bless you,
Barrett
