Prison Bars Can’t Block This Grandmother’s Love

Even behind bars, Mary experienced holiday joy, thanks to an Angel Tree Christmas party.

As a grandmother behind bars, Mary didn't get to see her three grandchildren as much as she would like.

An Angel Tree® Christmas party changed that.

“It means a lot because I’m missing Christmas at home,” she says.

Held at Mary's facility, this Angel Tree party was a precious opportunity for parents and grandparents like Mary to spend time with their loved ones. The party room was filled with festive holiday music, as well as tables offering crafts, games, pizza, snacks, and cookies.

Although Mary’s family visits her as often as possible, being able to sit and chat with them, embrace them, and dream out loud with them was everything to her.

Mary is making plans with her grandchildren for when she's finally home: “I want to go swimming with them and have a picnic.”

Thanks to Angel Tree, this family created a memory they can cherish until Grandma returns home for good.
