Finding Freedom After 52 Years in Prison

Find out why Arthur says that as long as you’re alive, you’ve got a second chance.

serving life after prison

Arthur has been in prison 52 years, but he says it wasn’t until he had served several years that he experienced a freedom he hadn’t known even before incarceration.

“Before Prison Fellowship® Academy, I was a know-it-all,” he admits. “I was arrogant, egotistical, high-strung.”

Arthur participated in the Academy after his first decade of incarceration and began seeing everything in his life differently—starting with why he was in prison.

“It took me ten years in to finally accept responsibility for what I did. And once that happened, I was free,” Arthur says. “Going to the Prison Fellowship Academy took me off that pedestal.”

In the Academy, Arthur learned God’s purpose for his life. He opened himself up to an entirely new way of living, from being vulnerable with others to learning to ask for help.

Whether your prison is a physical one with walls and bars, or one created by pride, fear, or addiction, Arthur’s words of advice are for you: “As long as you’re alive, you’ve got a second chance.”
