INCREASE EQUITY AND OPPORTUNITY FOR CHILDREN AND RETURNING CITIZENS
In a nation where more than 1.5 million children have a parent behind bars—and 1 in 3 American adults struggle to secure employment and other essentials because of their criminal background—it’s clear that a more restorative approach to those impacted by incarceration is desperately needed. By partnering with Prison Fellowship®, corporations and foundations like yours can champion justice and create safer, flourishing communities.
LEARN ABOUT PARTNERING WITH PRISON FELLOWSHIP
MAKE BRIGHT FUTURES POSSIBLE
Every child enters the world with potential and dreams—but not every child enters the same world. Some carry burdens that make it difficult to thrive. In the U.S., approximately 1.5 million children have a parent in prison. At no fault of their own, they face significant risk factors and are more likely than their peers to follow a parent’s footsteps into incarceration.
Every child deserves a true first chance. After decades of serving impacted families, Prison Fellowship launched the First Chance Network™, a group of organizations committed to creating a future where children have the opportunity to flourish.
ADVANCING FIRST AND SECOND CHANCE OPPORTUNITIES
No one organization can tackle these pervasive issues alone. With the necessary support from you and our partners, children of the incarcerated can discover broader horizons for their futures, and people coming home from prison can live up to their full potential.
OUR PARTNERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

“We’re passionate about serving and refreshing our communities. That’s why we partnered with the Baltimore Ravens, Safeway, and Prison Fellowship to create a tailgate celebration where local youth participated in a daylong sports camp, and their caregivers received access to local support services.”

The First and Second Chances Philanthropy Council
The Philanthropy Council is made up of corporations and foundations seeking to holistically support children with incarcerated parents and unlock second chances for people with a criminal record.
With more than 45 years of experience walking alongside people and families impacted by incarceration, Prison Fellowship is uniquely positioned to convene the Philanthropy Council. Council members are given the opportunity to support and experience the work of the First Chance Network, a group of nonprofits and other community-based partners collaborating with Prison Fellowship to increase the resiliency of children with incarcerated parents, so they not only avoid involvement in the criminal justice system but discover broader horizons for their futures. Through campaigns like Second Chance Month®, policy reforms, and second chance hiring efforts, Prison Fellowship also engages the Philanthropy Council in efforts to reduce stigma and unlock second chances for returning citizens to secure employment, stable housing, and more.
