UNWRAPPING THE GIFT OF CONNECTION

Every year, Angel Tree® brings children and their incarcerated mom or dad together on Christmas, one gift at a time.

GIVE THE ULTIMATE GIFT - THE GIFT OF CHRIST

Angel Tree®, a program of Prison Fellowship®, reaches out to the children of prisoners and their families with the love of Christ. Through Angel Tree, volunteers are mobilized to deliver a gift, the Gospel, and a personal message of love to children on behalf of their mom or dad in prison. Every Angel Tree parent’s family is also given access to a free, easy-to-read copy of the Bible (available in English or Spanish). It starts with a gift and leads to restored relationships.

HOW ANGEL TREE WORKS

TRADITIONAL ANGEL TREE

  • Beginning as early as October, the Angel Tree coordinator for the church, group, or organization will receive the names of Angel Tree children who were signed up by their mom or dad in prison.
  • The Angel Tree coordinator and other volunteers will contact each child’s caregiver to confirm permission for the child to participate and to discuss appropriate gifts.
  • The ministry partner will set up an Angel Tree display with Angel Tree name tags for all the children, showing their ages and suggested gift ideas. Volunteers will hear about the Angel Tree program through their Sunday bulletins, announcements, word of mouth, newsletters, etc. They will visit the Angel Tree display and select names of children who are signed up to receive Christmas gifts.
  • Before Christmas, volunteers will work together to purchase, wrap, and deliver a gift for each child on behalf of his or her incarcerated parent—and in the process, share the Gospel.

VIRTUAL ANGEL TREE

  • Prison Fellowship® is committed to the health and well-being of Angel Tree volunteers like you and the families we serve. As Christmas approaches, our team has been preparing for scenarios where churches/organizations may be closed, or other restrictions may be in place due to COVID-19.
  • Virtual Angel Tree is a new, effective, and optional way for you to facilitate your Angel Tree program. There is no contact necessary. Angel Tags are provided virtually for all volunteers to sponsor.
  • Individuals will pay online to sponsor each gift package, and Prison Fellowship will send sponsored gifts directly to Angel Tree kids. Each gift package will include a gift card, a personal message from the parent, an age-appropriate Gospel presentation, and an opportunity to request a Bible.
  • If requested, caregiver contact information will be provided postseason to church/organization for continued ministry opportunities.

ABOUT ANGEL TREE®

Incarceration can strain family ties to the breaking point. Angel Tree shares the love of Christ in a tangible way and strengthens family bonds, delivering personalized gifts and the Gospel to children on behalf of their incarcerated parents at Christmas. Every Angel Tree family is also given access to a free, easy-to-read copy of the Bible in English or Spanish.

And the story continues all year, as Angel Tree Camping® makes Christ-centered summer camp possible for prisoners’ kids and Angel Tree Sports Clinic™ helps youth be champions on the field and in life. Through each program and mentoring opportunity, you can join Angel Tree to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of families in your community!
